Metal with awareness

It has the appearance of a building with some history, yet everything is calculatedly modern. The project was about a property with a unique presence and an appearance that blends in with its surroundings and is the epitome of modern Japanese style. We worked on the gates, stairs, railings, benches and many other items that are used every day in everyday life that are in harmony with the overall appearance of the property. In this project, the design features are, after all, somewhat retro and modern.

Wood, metal and design

The stair railings are particularly impressive in this property. The unique design, materiality, flowing form and use of metal materials are very beautiful and boast a wonderful presence despite their clean shape. As a renovation project for an originally historic house, the specifications were designed to make the most of the existing taste of the house, which was a great learning experience. The processing work was extremely challenging, with the steel being quite slender and the final finish curved, but we feel that this was a project that was a true testament to the craftsman’s skills. In fact, when it was installed in the house, its presence was stunning and we felt proud of it.

A nudge to the bench

The presence of metal as a point of reference can tighten the overall impression of a house or bring a sense of confidence to items such as a small bench. In addition to the metal’s benefits of longevity and the ability to maintain design, it can also exude a bit of the homeowner’s intention. In this project, the components have a distinct role and both durability and design were taken care of. The walls are made of stone, the floor is made of tiles, the backs of the benches are made of wood, and the benches are made of steel with a special surface treatment that gives them a somewhat stone-like look, and the metal attached to the benches has a great impact.
