To begin with, staircases are truly magical. They are essential for moving between different floors and have an extraordinary value, transforming two-dimensional movement into three-dimensional movement. By the act of going up and down we can also experience the presence of gravity. The significance of stairs in human society is profound. That is why staircases are also important in terms of strength, quality and existence value. To begin with, sturdiness is a must. Not only do people have to put their full weight on them, but they also have to run up and down them. Furthermore, they may also be used for carrying loads up or by more than one person. All of this needs to be supported and sustained with complete security. The necessary function of the staircase as an entity is also linked to the safety and security of our people.
Integrated process management
Of the many staircases we have worked on, this is the first time we have worked on a staircase. The staircase was given a beautiful copper decoration treatment. The simple shape of the staircase itself made the decorative metal treatment stand out. At first, we only delivered the metal-treated plates, but eventually we were also involved in the installation, and as a result, we were able to develop all the components of the staircase. We would like to thank the client and the design team for their spirit. The fact that we were able to take on the entire project allows us to perfect the staircase itself. From a safety point of view, it was also a great advantage to be able to verify the staircase, including its temporary assembly in the factory. After all, when considering the safety performance required of a staircase, it is safer for us to be able to carry out all verification in-house. In particular, this time we thought it was necessary to consider the surface treatment depending on the compatibility with the decorated metal, which made the finishing process much easier.
Glossy look created by decorative treatment
Stairs are, in a sense, a big thing. However, we also feel that there is a growing tendency to want them to be as unobtrusive and light as possible. This time, however, we wanted a finish with full presence and a certain object-like gloss. This is because in this space, which has a lounge aspect, the staircase’s heightened presence creates a good tension in the overall atmosphere of the space. The treatment is standard: the structural steel is sprayed with copper and polished, and then the surface is prepared with VeroMetal, but its size creates a different presence. As is always the case, the design intent is only realised on completion, and once again the space was full of surprises.
