OVERVIEW

Metal as a supporting role

For AICHI METAL, precision is extremely important. Precision can be defined in a variety of ways. For example, the gates and window frames that we provide for houses are made by adjusting slight errors in accuracy that occur as a result of the assembly of the house through on-site work, and the accuracy that was finished at the time of manufacture is embodied in the finished product. In a sense, we are adjusting the precision indicated at the time of fabrication on site, but this, too, requires skill in mastering and adjusting precision. On the other hand, the accuracy required for the fabrication of industrial girders and frames, which play a supporting role in the attachment of industrial equipment and precision machinery, is, so to speak, a kind of standardization. Just as time and the accuracy of surveying can change all preconditions, the accuracy required for a platform on which industrial equipment is installed is the same as the accuracy required for what is mounted and utilized on it. In this case, even a deviation of a few tenths of a millimeter is unacceptable.

Improved efficiency in girders and frame fabrication and operations

Digital devices are now useful in the trial-and-error process of manufacturing and installing mounts and frames for precision instruments and industrial equipment. Traditionally, the techniques required to assemble such equipment have ranged from the use of rulers, calipers, and the like, to the mastering of tolerances on design drawings, material distortion, expansion and contraction, and the like, to the calculation of errors while judging the conditions under which the equipment will be assembled and used. In addition, it is necessary to consider the possibility of moving the installed equipment. Although we do not have enough knowledge to support the use of gyroscopes and other advanced devices, we may need to respond to such needs in the future. It is also important to shape the system in a way that improves the work efficiency of workers.

Trestle as a tool

In this way, a trestle used as a "tool" is created. It is not enough to simply assemble the materials, although this is a very common practice. Functional aspects such as high strength and safety are important, and usability is equally important. This is true even for the simple products we make, such as the one shown in the photo. It is not difficult to imagine the level of precision and technology required for buildings in cutting-edge industries that handle more precise equipment. I think it is important to understand that in industrially advanced countries, such technology exists and advanced equipment is operated on top of it. What we make is only a small skeleton, but every time we make it, we feel such a sense of awe. At the same time, it is a job that reminds us that it is not just a distant field, but that it is important for us to feel and learn the essence of it as well.

New Possibilities for Metal Products as Supporting Roles

We are able to find new possibilities for metal by producing not only metal products that are the face of housing and architecture, but also frames for industrial equipment and racks that play a supporting role.
