R&D
We often use a zinc anti-corrosion treatment before coating, and after the anti-corrosion treatment, we spray other metals for a design finish on a daily basis. In the process of thermal spraying, we have always tried to improve the quality of the storage method of thermal spraying wire, which can be said to be the lifeline of thermal spraying. This is because thermal spray wire is a wire material with an extremely large surface area, and depending on the storage environment, it may soon become unusable. Like welding wire, thermal spray wire is also a great enemy in places with moisture and humidity, and in the past, the wire was wrapped and stored in a drying rack with a desiccant. However, this alone did not solve the problem, and a lot of rusting occurred and burned our hands.
Current Storage
Quality control is improved by accumulating various failures and successes. The current thermal spray wire storage method is thorough. First, the surface of the thermal spray roll is cured with a surface wrap. Next, we use a substrate such as kraft paper together with a desiccant, enclose rust-proof paper impregnated with rust inhibitor, and then store the paper in a zippered bag. In this way, the rust-preventive gas vaporized from the rust-preventive paper enclosed in the zipper bag surrounds the surface of the metal wire and adheres to it, dissolving in moisture to form a rust-preventive film that shuts out moisture and oxygen, which are factors in the generation of rust. Only in this way could corrosion and deterioration of the sprayed wire be prevented. The upgrade to a solid, evidence-based approach has also improved the level of quality control. It also contributed to the improvement of the 5S level in the company.
