Technology Case Study
As of today, AICHI METAL has four methods of fixing glass in glass balustrades: the first is to fix the glass with "point-fix" round metal hardware and flat bars; the second is to fix the glass with metal hardware assembled in a "U" shape like the sash used for window frames and holding edges with screws; the third is to build a frame made to exacting precision and insert the glass into it. The third method is to construct a frame made to exacting precision and insert the glass into it. The fourth method is the "ALGRID" developed by our company. The first three methods are conventional. Both have a long history and offer various advantages. Point-fix is highly designable, unexpected, and preferred. As for sash frames, they are less decorative, but safer and more widely used in society. However, both have the disadvantage of being somewhat difficult to work with onsite and difficult to apply. As for sash frames, installation itself is easy, but since the "holding edge" that holds the glass is installed last, a difference in accuracy of 0.5 mm can cause the holding edge to not fit.
The history of the development of "ALGRID."
After all, we thought that the biggest drawback of hardware for fixing glass was the lack of "on-site processing flexibility. We wondered if it would be possible to create a glass fixing item that would be flexible and adaptable on site, yet still be able to be used with the highest quality. It would be even better if it could be used for anything. Thus began the development of ALGRID. As a result, a single bar became the final form in terms of shape. However, a composite idea was used. ALGRID is the answer to all of these requirements.
Possibility of "ALGRID."
We have already utilized "ALGRID" on many sites. Although it is a basic interior component, the sash frame itself becomes more beautiful because the screws for the holding rim are not visible. It gives the impression that the glass is framed by a single metal bar, which contributes to the design of the architectural design. The most notable feature was the ease of cutting the bars to the desired size on site, without the need for drilling screws or cutting threads. In February 2022, the official online store for ALGRID will be launched (click on the top image below to go to the online store), and we hope that you will enjoy our products as much as we do. We hope you will patronize it as well.
