AICHI METAL
Technical Case Studies, Case Studies
The front door is a mysterious entity. It is both an entrance and an exit, and no matter how huge a house or building is, people always look for the part that is the entrance. Therefore, no matter how small or large, the entranceway always catches the eye. For this reason, many clients are particular about the materials and finishes of their entrances, and we receive many requests to finish their entrances. The basis of an entranceway is a single board made of several materials laminated together. Of course, it is useless if there are gaps when it is installed in a building. For this reason, various dimensions and design innovations have been incorporated. This project is no exception. In particular, since the front door handles are installed in the full vertical width of the building, it is important to have basic techniques such as getting the handles exactly parallel to each other.
Clear coat method development.
The power of AICHI METAL's research and development team also lives on in this door. The clear coat treatment. This door was first treated with zinc to prevent corrosion, then bronzed with Verometal® HD. Then, after oxidation treatment to create a decorative irregularity, a clear coat is applied to increase strength. However, the clear coat was a major challenge. Most architectural components are designed to be damaged, and therefore, durability-oriented coating methods are the mainstream. From this point of view, since decorative metal finishes are extremely delicate, the finishing coatings are particularly important in terms of both durability and aging. Nevertheless, we have found that clear coatings in the architectural field can greatly detract from the quality of the decorative treatment. In order to find a clear coat that would meet our needs, our R&D team tested and verified various products to arrive at the optimal clear coat, and through various efforts, we were able to establish its utilization.
Layers and layers of toughness.
The overall process is as follows: first, corrosion protection with zinc, decoration with bronze and oxidizing agent technology, and then clear coating to create toughness. Each of these processes is thoroughly quality-controlled by our experienced staff. The result is a dramatic change in the look brought to buildings. In particular, the presence of doors is unique. It is precisely because of these components that our technology can also take on new meaning. Metals still have infinite expressions and possibilities. We are refining our techniques to realize them.
